Cyberpunk 2077- Mixed Reviews From Gamers

The game that everyone had been waiting for is finally out. Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced by CD projekt Red's in May 2012, that is even before the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 or the PlayStation 4. After 8 years of development, the game was finally released on 10th December 2020 for PC and gaming consoles like PS5, PS4, Xbox series X and series S, Xbox One. The game was developed using the latest REDengine 4 game engine due to which the games graphics are stunning.

About The Game

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open world, action roll-playing, first perspective game in which we play as a customizable character called V. The game is set in a distant dark future in the year 2077 at a place called 'Night City' in North California. Although the main story of this game is not that long, there are many side quests that can be done which will affect the game ending. The game is filled with action and strategy and a number or weapons and vehicles to do the missions. The power of choice is also given to the gamer which means the ending of the game changes by what the player choses through out the game.

The game had almost 8 million pre orders for all the platforms and was the best selling game in China. It has won many awards like 'Best roll playing game award', 'Best graphics award', 'Best Sony PlayStation Game Award' etc. Even though the game was released 9 years after it's initial announcement, many players are still having some complains.

Bugs, Glitches and Problems

Cyberpunk 2077 can best be experienced with high frame rates and good graphics on a Gaming PC with a minimum 8 GB RAM and a full HD display. The game runs well even on the latest PS5 and the Xbox series X. Many PS5 users claim that the game crashes out of no where and closes itself. The main problem arises with the base model consoles, the PS4 and Xbox Ones. People who already bought the game for these consoles are complaining about the lower frame rate and resolution. It is understandable that this game is a next gen game and for it to run on the older generation consoles, there has to be compromises. But then people bring up the conflict that the game was originally meant to be released for the PS4 and the Xbox one. The smart thing that CD projekt did before the release was not showing the gameplays of the older generation consoles and instead they just showed the gameplays for PC and the new gen.

People who are playing this game on a ps4 are report many bugs and problems such as slow texture loading, extreme drops in frame rates to as low as 15 fps in combats and while driving around. The developers responded back by tweeting that " The journey has just begun and we are hard at work on the upcoming fixes and updates to the game." Hopefully the game will get better on the next gen consoles but still on the older models there is a low chance of fixing much.

Conclusion

This game had a lot of high hopes from many people that it could not live up to. Even after being delayed many times, the fans are not happy with what they got. Although PC users are enjoying the game smoothly with only a few glitches and bugs. Different people have different reviews of the game. Some users say that the glitches are very minor and they don't bother much while others want a refund for the game because of how badly the game had to be released for the PS4 and Xbox one. CD projekt says that in 2021 the PS5 version of the game will be released with even better graphics and fixed bugs and glitches. But till then gamers will have to play the game as it is which will hopefully be fixed by new patches and updates.
