Android has been the best selling OS(operating system) worldwide on smartphones since 2011 and on tablet since 2013. In recent days, not only smartphones but also TVs(Smart TV) are also having android support where we can use it like an android device.

History Of Android

Today, everyone is using the technology madly but few of them are aware of the past history of that technology. Here, we have tried to give a very brief history about Android.

Android was founded in 2003 by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears. Later on Google, Microsoft took part to develop the android software. The early intentions of the company were to develop an advanced operating system for digital cameras, and this was the basis of its pitch to investors in April 2004. The company then decided that the market for cameras was not large enough for its goals, and by five months later it had diverted its efforts and was pitching Android as a handset operating system that would rival Symbian and Windows mobile.

After many research and development, android came up with its numerous version update like "Cupcake", "Donut", "Eclair" and "Froyo". In 2013, during the announcement of KitKat version, Google explained that "Since these devices make our lives so sweet, each Android version is named after a dessert". This is why up to android version 9(Pie), all were named after a dessert. But in the year 2019, the historic practice of naming android versions after desserts ended and the 10th version of android was named as android "Q".
